The 60s are history for the Wichita area, with Friday’s projected highs nearly 30 degrees colder than the day before.

North winds will be blustery, blowing steadily in the teens and gusting to nearly 30 miles an hour. Highs may not top the freezing mark in the low 30s, forecasters say.

Freezing rain is possible early Saturday morning in the metro area, with lows in the mid-20s and light east-northeasterly winds. Freezing rain and sleet are expected off and on during the day Saturday before the precipitation changes over to snow late in the afternoon, forecasters say. Highs will again be in the low 30s, with light north winds.

Snow continues Saturday night and into early Sunday morning and could be heavy at times, forecasters say. Lows will settle in the low 20s, with north winds in the teens and gusting to nearly 30 miles an hour.

Light snow is possible again on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and a high in the mid- to upper 20s.

Check forecasts and conditions regularly for the latest snowfall accumulation projections.
