Two Wichita hotels are offering a free night’s stay Christmas Eve for people visiting family members who are either hospitalized or in a nursing home or treatment center.
The Hampton and Comfort Inns, located next to each other on Corporate Drive near Kellogg and Webb, are participating in Room in the Inn, TMI Hospitality’s holiday giving program, which is also offered on Thanksgiving.
“As a company, we understand the needs families have in the holiday season and how difficult it is to be together,” said Hillary Stevens, a spokeswoman with TMI Hospitality. “We try to help however we can.”
TMI Hospitality owns and operates approximately 200 properties across 26 states. Room in the Inn has provided free rooms for about 30 years; the two Wichita hotels have participated since being built 17 years ago.
Families interested in getting a free room don’t need to apply, but should call the general managers and make normal arrangements. Rooms are available as each hotel’s occupancy allows. Each year, the two Wichita hotels give away about four or five rooms to families on Christmas Eve.
“They really appreciate it,” said Dave Rasmussen, general manager at the Hampton Inn on Corporate Drive. “It helps them out … so they’re able to come and see (family) on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day.”
