Agriculture boosts Kansas’ personal income numbers

Kansas farms provided the biggest boost to statewide personal income growth in the third quarter, which rose 1.2 percent from the second quarter, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Since the third quarter of 2012, total personal income in Kansas has grown 4.8 percent, ranking it sixth among states.

The partial government shutdown was the biggest drag on Kansas’ collective income growth – and in all other states – in the third quarter because of the loss of civilian government salaries for about two weeks.
