Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
In the last 3 1/2 years, this husband and wife, 62 and 59, have faced several hardships.
Medical bills began piling up after the husband discovered he had an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He hopes it will clear up in a matter of months, but surgery may be on the horizon.
It has limited me to what I can do, said the Wichita school custodian, but I keep on having to go to work.
The two are also recovering from the deaths of several close family members, including their daughter.
It was a real heartbreak, the husband said.
The family is requesting help with bills, which the husband said would remove a huge burden.
Receiving a gift would relieve a great deal of stress and financial burden, the family said in their application to Share the Season, and would be a blessing from someone who cares.
So far, Share the Season has raised $179,634.
