Educare, the child care center and learning lab at Butler Community College, will receive a $95,579 grant supporting parents in school from the U.S. Department of Education, the college said in a written statement.
The grant amount is nearly twice what EduCare has received in past years, the statement said.
Butler has been given the grant for 11 years, the college said.
To receive the grant, the child care facility must be accredited and be integrated with the college’s Early Childhood curriculum, the statement said.
EduCare at Butler opened in 1996. Local Early Childhood students average 10 to 20 hours weekly working in the facility for their required practicum and complete their required observations in the facility, the college statement said.
