Bel Aire police Chief John Daily has resigned after about seven years in the post.

City Manager Ty Lasher confirmed that Daily is no longer the chief of police.

“He gave us a resignation letter, but it’s a personnel matter that I can’t discuss,” Lasher said.

Daily’s last day was Friday, Lasher said. Lt. Troy Griggs has been named interim police chief for the department, which has nine full-time officers for a city of about 6,800 residents.

“Troy will be the interim as we conduct a search for a new police chief,” Lasher said.
