Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

In October, this single mother of a 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She wasn’t expecting the medical expenses that come with a major illness, and the medical bills are piling up.

She started high-dose chemotherapy last month and isn’t able to work. She has been approved for short-term disability, but hasn’t started collecting it yet.

“Since I am a single parent with a three-year-old, it is so important that I do everything medically in my power so that I can see her grow up,” she wrote in her application to Share the Season.

Share the Season has helped with her car payments and car insurance so she can get to her medical appointments, she said.

“It takes a lot of the pressure off. Now I’ll have transportation. I’m very thankful for that,” she said.

So far, Share the Season has raised $168,130.
