Conservatives fail to realize that the ever-widening disparity of wealth among Americans is the equivalent of an economic apartheid that has the potential to end the American dream for us all.

If you have time to be complaining about Obama’s selfie picture, do something constructive like reading the Share the Season stories and making a contribution.

Editorial cartoonist Richard Crowson did it again (Dec. 8 Opinion). Equating Mary and Joseph to the ever-increasing number of families on a bloated, inefficient and failed government program we affectionately call “welfare” showed his utter disdain for empiricism and his sadly deficient knowledge base.

The cartoon making fun of the Holy Family looking for shelter was a trashy and anti-Christian statement that was not even historically accurate. St. Joseph was a hardworking man who was caught on the road when Mary’s time was due. He was not looking for a handout. More liberal distortion.

I had no idea that the government provided the stable for Mary and Joseph. All these years, I thought it was the innkeeper who provided the manger for Jesus’ birth. Most conservatives do believe in charity. They just believe that the government does a poor job executing it.

It’s sad to see that in Kansas, infants die at higher rates than the national average. Let us pray for the Schaefers and keep them in our hearts (Dec. 9 Eagle).

For every single kind, courteous, thoughtful person, there are 10 rude, inconsiderate, selfish people out there. Why can’t it be the other way around?

Just seconds before back surgery, when the doctor was lowering the gas mask to my face, I asked: “Is this when I forget my name?” In a flash, he answered: “No, this is when we make you a Democrat.” I woke up still laughing.

One good thing about Obamacare: It covers choking Jayhawks.

The Shockers were ranked 12th in the AP poll after defeating Oral Roberts, while KU has been making simple mistakes against unranked teams. Would WSU beat KU if they were to play each other?

WSU has everything to lose and nothing to gain by playing KU in basketball.

Who has time for celebrating Christmas when finals are coming up?

Finals are coming up – let’s cram everything we were supposed to learn throughout the semester into two weeks. That’s the mindset of a lot of teachers. Sounds like a great plan.
