The U.S. became the “economic engine of the world” because of capitalism. In 200 years we far surpassed European and Asian societies that mostly embraced socialism. Why adopt their inferior philosophies now?
While I was listening to President Obama’s speech at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service, I knew this was truly the most magnificent oration I had heard in my 73 years.

Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the conviction and sentencing of Scott Cheever, there is no reason to delay the carrying out of that sentence.
More and more people are becoming homeless and poor. I think we should all come together and help at this time of year. They just need a helping hand. It won’t hurt us to a least donate our time for the less fortunate.
What Alan Taylor and James Gunn accomplished is incredible. “Thor: The Dark World” is an extraordinary movie, since it manages to entertain the public the best way possible. I really hope the sequel can be at least as good as this one.

Are finals really worth a teens’ or teachers’ time? All they do is hurt the students’ grade and annoy teachers with a ton of grading. I vote no finals.
About the comment that “Francis Scott Key would turn over in his grave” if heard how people sing the national anthem: Francis Scott Key wrote “The Star-Spangled Banner” as a poem. Someone years later put it to music.
I was watching TV about the icy mess in Dallas, changed the channel and they were ice skating, switched the channel again and they were selling trips to Alaska. Hit the “off” button. Oh, well.
