Sedgwick County to issue $18 million in industrial revenue bonds on behalf of Beechcraft

Sedgwick County will issue $18 million in industrial revenue bonds on behalf of Beechcraft for an addition to its plant.

Commissioners voted 3 to 2 to issue the bonds, which do not have a financial impact on the county. Commissioners Karl Peterjohn and Richard Ranzau voted against the agreement, asking for more information to be available before signing off on the documents.

Beechcraft came out of bankruptcy in February.

Alexander Snyder, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary at Beechcraft, told commissioners that the company delivered 133 planes during the first nine months of this year compared with 75 during the same time period last year.
