Wichita weather: Another dose of cold air arrives

After climbing to the relatively balmy high of 42 on Tuesday, Wichita will be pushed back into the 20s again today by a fresh batch of arctic air.

The wind chill will be 0 at times, forecasters say, with northerly winds gusting to nearly 25 miles an hour at times. Steady breezes in the morning will be in the teens, easing to single digits by afternoon. Temperatures will peak in the upper 20s under sunny skies.

Overnight lows will fall to near 10 under mostly clear skies, forecasters say, with light and variable winds shifting to the south.

Highs Thursday will recover to the upper 30s under partly cloudy skies, forecasters say, though wind chills will fall below 0 at times. South winds will be in the teens, gusting to nearly 25 miles an hour at times.

Chances for rain and snow arrive on Friday and will persist throughout the day and into the evening, forecasters say.
