Opinion Line Extra (Dec. 11)

  • Published Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at 12 a.m.

How many “quality-of-life” projects were instituted in Detroit in the past 40 years? Why didn’t all those intangible benefits save it? Let’s go build something – quick, while we still can.

Florida congressman Alan Grayson has lost millions of dollars for the second time in a tax fraud scheme. I am sure he helps handle the $4 trillion we entrust to Congress each year in a more fiscally sound manner. He appears to be as gullible as those who re-elected him.

Obamacare was designed to be a free ride for some, but the rest of us are being taken for a ride.

So now it’s “if you want to keep your doctor and you’re willing to pay more, that’s your choice to keep your doctor.” Anybody feel like changing your 2012 vote now?

I wonder how many of those who condemn the ACA and hope for its failure are without health insurance, and have ever faced trying to pay a hospital bill that most likely is more than their annual income.

At election time, I hope people remember the politicians who were bought by George Soros and the unions.

Nelson Mandela was a true titan of our time. And he achieved this in an extremely disarming way. Our nation’s leaders should take note. All they do is politick and in turn are epic failures.

Enough already on Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela forgave those who did evil toward him. He therefore, based upon that, would not be accepted among civil rights leaders in the USA.

I watched “The Sound of Music Live.” I was surprised to learn that Maria had a Southern accent in 1940s Austria.

Business plays a major role in determining the direction of a nation. At Christmas time, they often say “Happy Holidays.” We don’t have to accept it. The next time we hear this politically correct nonsense, we are out of here. Politically correct terminology is unacceptable.

So the atheists are shoving their nonbeliefs onto others? I guess it is OK for the religious fanatics to go door-to-door and across the globe to brainwash people in their ridiculous beliefs.

I’ll just bet that those folks who are turned off by “Season’s Greetings” and “Happy Holidays” would also object to “Feliz Navidad” because it isn’t in English.

To all those who want to say “Happy Holidays” only: Merry Christmas!

If you’re offended by the words “Merry Christmas,” then I’m offended by every Hanukkah news story, greeting card and TV commercial.

The weekend’s top box office movie was “Frozen,” and “Out of the Furnace” was third. It seems appropriate.
