A sign posted Sunday morning outside of a Belton Sonic restaurant encouraging the Chiefs to “scalp the Redskins,” “feed them whiskey” and send them “2 reservation,” prompted a quick apology from the restaurant chain.

“It was inexcusable, offensive and wrong,” a manager of the Sonic said Sunday night.

The sign was removed after about 15 minutes, but not before a photograph of it was posted online and went viral.
