Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

When her mother died in October, the 42-year-old mother of two sons paid what money she had for her mother’s cremation.

But that created hardship for her family of four. She has been out of work and unable to find a job, and her husband is on disability.

“This year it has been very expensive, I could only help with what I had when I had money and now I’m in a bind trying to pay my bills,” she wrote on her Share the Season application. “I would love for Share the Season to share their gift with me. My husband has a pacemaker and he’s on disability.”

Any help, she wrote, “Would help me get back on track to where I can have a better life.”

So far, Share the Season has raised $115,458.
