David Brown made 30 saves, helping the Thunder beat the Missouri Mavericks 2-1 on Friday night in Independence, Mo.
Brown, who joined Wichita in late November, turned aside all 21 shots he saw in the final two periods. Missouri’s only goal was scored in the first period while shorthanded.
Jon Booras scored the game-winning goal at 11:40 of the third period, one-timing the puck from the right circle. Ian Lowe set up the goal. Booras extended his scoring streak to six straight game. He has six goals and five assists in that span.
Lowe got the game’s first goal at 5:08 of the first, with an assist from Booras.
The Mavericks started to unravel down the stretch, committing three minor penalties and two 10-minute misconducts in the final five minutes.
The Thunder has won four of its last five games, with three of the wins coming againt the Mavericks — Missouri has only lost five games all season.
Wichita will play host to Tulsa on Saturday night at Intrust Bank Arena, the final home game for three weeks.
