Three upgrades at Metro Grill III
The restaurant at 10096 E. 13th St. is having a grand reopening at 11 a.m. Monday, complete with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. Diners will get 10 percent off all day on Monday. Although the restaurant originally opened in June of 2012, chef Michael Gonzalez has made some big changes. Among them:
Licensed to serve: The restaurant just secured its liquor license and will have a full bar. Itll serve wines by the glass and by the bottle.
New menu: Gonzalez has re-imagined his former menu, which was mostly sandwiches and hot dogs. Though the old favorites are still there, the new menu features appetizers such as sauteed littleneck clams and beef carpaccio, some new salads and entrees such as a filet mignon served over a grilled portabella mushroom. Gonzalez also has added a few chicken dishes and a grilled pork chop as well as a mini-Cuban menu, featuring picadillo, bisteck empanizado and more.
Additional ambiance: Metro Grill III also will now have candlelight in the evenings and live music on the weekends. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 316-631-1454.
Marcos Pizza opens Monday
A new pizza restaurant set to open next week will bring you a movie along with your pie as long as you order online. Marcos Pizza, part of a chain that started in Toledo, Ohio, and now has restaurants in 29 states, is expected to open on Monday. (The movie delivery component wont start immediately, though.) The restaurant, which also has locations in Topeka and the Kansas City area, is at 3305 W. Central, which is right next door to Family Video. The two stores have worked out a deal that will allow Marcos to eventually deliver online customers a movie along with a pizza. Theyll pick up the movie, too, but only if you order another pizza. Marcos menu includes several varieties of pizza, available on plain, Parmesan and garlic crusts. Itll also have salads and sandwiches. For more information, call 316-946-5646.
