Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
Accumulated medical bills of about $30,000 have overwhelmed this family of four to the point they are running out of options.
Its been difficult to say the least, said the 27-year-old mother.
But they are determined to find a way.
Weve often debated about me quitting my job that I love so that we could qualify for state assistance for food and insurance for our children, she wrote in her application. But we feel like thats not the answer or the path God has in store.
Theyve also considered filing for bankruptcy to wash these medical bills away that make us feel like we are drowning, she wrote.
But, she added, We do not feel like it is the right answer yet. We would like to try everything we can to get these people their money.
Both she and her 28-year-old husband work full time.
Her husband has had three surgeries in the past three years. Their two children ages 3 and 1 have had respiratory syncytial virus infection. Because they couldnt be in daycare while sick, the mother has had to miss a number of days at work.
To offset that loss of income, the father has been trying to find a second a job.
A gift from Share the Season would make a huge difference in our life, the mother wrote.
So far, Share the Season has raised more than $83,728.
