Catholic Charities of Wichita said Wednesday that it has been made aware that someone is improperly using its name to do door-to-door solicitation in the midtown area.

“We never do door-to-door solicitation,” said Heather Welch, a spokeswoman for the nonprofit. Police have been notified of the incidents, she added.

Those doing the solicitation are asking for cash donations in exchange for a gift card.

Welch said Catholic Charities representatives never show up at homes unannounced and don’t ask for cash.
