Wichita police arrested an 18-year-old man after a brief high-speed chase on South Seneca on Monday night.
Police Lt. Doug Nolte gave this account: Police on patrol near the 4000 block of South Seneca spotted a stolen Chevy pickup around 8:30 p.m. The pickup took off at a high speed; by the 4900 block of South Seneca, the chase was called off because of dangerous speeds. Officers found the pickup overturned near 55th and South Seneca.
The 18-year-old driver has been booked into jail on suspicion of a variety of charges including reckless driving, running a red light, fleeing from police and aggravated child endangerment, because the passenger was 16 and not involved in the crimes, Nolte said. Neither young man was injured.
