Tabor, Baker fall in NAIA football quarterfinals

Tabor gave up 23 second-quarter points on Saturday and lost to Grand View (Iowa) 44-24 in the quarterfinals of the NAIA football playoffs in Des Moines.

Tabor (10-3) took a 14-0 lead, which included recovering a Grand View fumble at the 1-yard line and scoring on Ryan Nelson’s carry on the next play.

But Grand View (12-0) scored the next 30 points to take control.

Tabor quarterback Ryan Nelson completed 16 of 30 passes for 244 yards, 126 yards and nine catches going to senior Scott Bauer.

Morningside 36, Baker 28 — The host Wildcats were victimized by two Ryan Kasdorf touchdown passes that gave Morningside the lead for good in its NAIA quarterfinal win.

Baker quarterback Jake Morse threw touchdown passes to Dillon Baxter and Clarence Clark in the first half and tied Morningside at 21-all until Kasdorf’s TD pass with 2:06 to go in the half.

Baker trailed 34-21 in the fourth quarter before Morse threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Hatcher. But the Wildcats were tackled in the end zone for a safety on their final drive.
