Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
This couple used to help families in need. Now, they are in need. They haven’t fully recovered since both lost their jobs within a month of each other in 2009, then lost their son in a motorcycle accident in 2010.
The husband has been able to find work at half his former pay, and his wife has been unable to find work even through she went back to school to upgrade her education.
They are struggling to stay in their house, and in the past two months have had to spend money on vehicle and house repairs.
“We are behind on all bills and can not seem to catch up,” the wife wrote in her application to Share the Season. ”Our daughter and her two children live with us and there is just not enough money coming in to feed and house five people.”
Although the daughter has a job, they have had to go to food banks to help feed the family.
“I ask that you please help me and my family as we have exhausted every avenue I know,” the wife wrote.
So far, Share the Season has raised more than $57,000.
