Bus service is available free all day Friday from Wichita Transit, the first time in recent years that the city’s bus service has operated the day after Thanksgiving.

The Black Friday service is back, city officials said, due to a large number of requests from residents during community meetings setting the future of the city’s bus system.

Regular Saturday schedules will be in effect today, with these changes:

• The West Maple route will not go to Mid-Continent Airport.

• Paratransit will operate its normal Saturday schedule – two vans will operate from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.

• Staff will answer calls from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 265-7221 for route and schedule information.
