Prosecutors on Thursday charged a third suspect with first-degree felony murder in connection with the fatal shooting of an Arkansas man in Wichita last week.

Law enforcement records show that Corey Pollard Jr., 21, was arrested Thursday in the 700 block of Sylvan, more than a week after the Nov. 13 shooting death of Paul Danny Khmabounheuang inside the house at 1452 N. Holyoke. Pollard was one of four people wanted in the case, police have said. Two others – Orville Smith and Dijon Thomas – are also in custody.

Pollard, who appeared in court Thursday via television broadcast from the Sedgwick County Jail, faces the murder charge, as well as aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary charges. He was also charged Thursday with distribution of a controlled substance.

Pollard’s bond has been set at $500,000. He is due back in court Dec. 5 for a preliminary hearing and will receive counsel from a court-appointed attorney.

Police have said four men were let into the house on Holyoke the afternoon of Nov. 13 and then attempted to steal money, drugs or both. A gunfight erupted during which two robbers were wounded and Khmabounheuang was killed.

The two wounded suspects, 19-year-old Smith and 20-year-old Thomas, were taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment and booked into jail upon their release from the hospital. Each has been charged with first-degree felony murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and a drug charge.

Pollard was one of the two other suspects who ran from the house.

Khmabounheuang, from Arkansas, was in town visiting a relative when he was shot. Drugs were found inside the house by police investigating the shooting.
