Woman attacked over late husband’s jacket

He wanted to wear her late husband’s jacket. She wouldn’t let him.

He didn’t like hearing that, police said, so he punched the woman in the face 15 times and threatened to kill her by putting a pocket knife to her throat early Friday morning at an apartment on West 21st Street.

The 47-year-old woman was able to escape and go to a neighbor’s apartment for help, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

“The victim had a very swollen face, where it appeared she had been punched several times,” Nolte said.

There was a small cut by her ear and by her throat, Nolte said, which is consistent with having a knife held to her throat. The 64-year-old man had left the area by the time officers arrived.

Police have his name and are looking for him, Nolte said. The woman was treated at the scene for her injuries.
