Wind turbines kill an estimated 573,000 birds each year, and thus routinely violate the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, but no wind farm has ever faced prosecution. Environmentalists are so in love with the dream of “free” energy from wind that these enterprises live an expensive but Obama-protected existence.

The phrase “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime” probably wasn’t coined by a Democrat.

Rep. Mike Pompeo seems totally blind to the mass violations of Americans’ privacy. The NSA could be reading all content of all communications of U.S. residents, and it seemingly would be OK by him because it is doing “good” work.

The way that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney mocks reporters or their questions is extraordinarily disrespectful. I realize he normally gets softball questions, but he is in the big leagues. He should act like a man.

Let’s not call it Obamacare. Let’s not call it the Affordable Care Act. There’s nothing affordable about the care. It’s just an act by a president who has duped a nation.

Lies are lies. It is really hard to make untruth, unvarnished and documented, seem to be anything but – wait for it – untruth. But he does have a nice left-handed jumper.

Why is it that when discussing finances, Sedgwick County Commissioners Richard Ranzau and Karl Peterjohn are the only members to ask questions – and meaningful questions – and the other three commissioners sit there with their heads in their hands and a blank look on their faces?

So the city of Wichita will spend a lot of money on another useless advisory committee to rename the airport. Regardless, people will still call it the Wichita airport. Remember what happened back in 1975 in trying to call City Hall something else?

This isn’t a democracy. It’s a democratic republic. But 95 percent of Americans have no idea of the difference.

I am all for “so help me God” being skipped at military swearing-in ceremonies. After all, a similar “God is great” is said by some folks just before they blow themselves and others to kingdom come. God’s blessing on a military endeavor is a contradiction at best. Leave him out of it.

I am really disappointed in the WSU men’s basketball poster this year. It has coach Gregg Marshall front and center, larger than any of the players. A coach should never overshadow the players. College basketball should be about the players.
