An inmate died at the Sedgwick County Jail early Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The 44-year-old man was pronounced dead at 12:47 p.m., Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said.

“We believe (the) death is medical related, not foul play,” Mattingly said in an e-mail response to questions.

An investigation into the man’s death is underway, he said, and more details will be available Tuesday. It is the fourth death due to natural causes at the jail this year and the second in less than a week.

John Daniel Price, 59, was pronounced dead of apparent natural causes shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday. Price was awaiting trial on felony charges, authorities have said, and had been receiving treatment for various medical conditions while in custody.
