Wichita State women can’t keep up with Oklahoma

Sharane Campbell scored 24 points for No. 11 Oklahoma in an 89-70 win over Wichita State on Sunday in the second round of the WNIT in Norman, Okla.

Alex Harden led the Shockers with 24 points. Kelsey Jacobs added 15 points and Jamillah Bonner had 10 points and seven rebounds.

WSU got within one at 10-9 in the first half after a layup by Bonner, but the Sooners went on a run to go into halftime for a 46-34, leading by as much as 24 points in the first half.

Campbell was one of four Sooners in double figures. Morgan Hook added 15 points and six assists, while Nicole Griffin had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Aaryn Ellenberg also scored 14 points.

The Shockers shot 24 for 63 (.381) for the game and forced 22 Oklahoma turnovers.

The loss puts WSU in the consolation bracket of the WNIT.

Kansas State 73, Charlotte 65 — K-State led by as much as 24 points in the first half, but Charlotte rallied late in the second half before the Wildcats put them away in Manhattan for a 2-0 start. K-State was led by freshman Leticia Romero’s 25 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Avanna Holmes led Charlotte with 15 points while Hillary Sigmon added 14 points. K-State made just 20 of 53 shots from the field, but hit 27 of 36 free throws and forced 17 turnovers.

Nebraska transfer Katya Leick scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds in her first game for K-State.
