Earlene Condiff believes in giving back to her community because, she says, it gives meaning to her life.

Condiff, a longtime volunteer, organizes and puts together Inter-Faith Ministries’ monthly Final Friday Cafe Gallery, as well as its Souper Bowl event and Humanitarian Awards Dinner each year.

“She is one of those people who is able to take a project and turn it into something much more sound and appealing than we would ever have the time or think about doing,” said Kat Franchino, associate development director at Inter-Faith Ministries.

Condiff, 65, says she has always volunteered throughout her adult life.

For the Final Friday events, which monthly attracts between 100 and 160 people, she covered over the holes in the organization’s art gallery and put in a track system to hang art. She also contacts different groups each month to bring in art.

With the Souper Bowl event, she arranges for more than 130 gallons of soup to be donated by local restaurants and individuals. It’s a fundraiser to help feed people who are hungry, impoverished and homeless. Last year, the event, held the Friday before the Super Bowl, raised twice as much money as it did in 2012.

“It gives me a sense of accomplishment,” Condiff said. It gives me satisfaction that I can take something and make it happen.”
