A 36-year-old woman called 911 on Friday night for help saying her husband was drunk, had a rifle and was threatening her.
Emergency dispatchers could hear the man threatening to kill her and then himself, Sgt. Bruce Watts said.
Police responded to the home in the 1900 block of South Pattie, where they convinced the man, who was 35, to come outside, along with the woman. Police arrested the man on suspicion of aggravated assault and domestic battery. Officers found a rifle hidden behind a sofa, Watts said.
The woman suffered a bite to an ear and arm, Watts said.
