Wheelspin Winter worries offer opportunities

Sitting in my home office with my faithful hounds, Ruby and Skeeter, sprawled out on the floor, cold rain drops pecking at the window, I am resisting the urge to give in and turn on the furnace for the first time this fall. I have finally come to the realization that the cold season is here, probably to stay.

The Getting Together car calendar is getting shorter every week and I know the time is coming when I will be motoring through slush or over snow-packed roads to photograph a car in less-than-ideal conditions.

But that assumes I will find someone willing to get their car out in less-than-ideal conditions. And that’s the really scary part for me.

I have a long list of story possibilities to wade through and most people are more than happy to accommodate me when the sun is shining and the grass is growing. But who can blame those who are reluctant to fire up their pride and joy and take it outside when Kansas winter weather conditions come calling?

That’s when finding a nice collection inside a car barn can be a life-saver. So if you have a cool collector car and a secure garage or shed, especially one with nifty automotive decorations, your chances of becoming the feature car owner on a future Wheels page just got better. Drop me an email at the address below and I’ll put you on my winter short list.

Likewise, if you have a car show you would like to promote, now is the time to get on our master calendar. We need the date, name of the event and the number of years it’s been held, location, times and the name and phone number/email of contact person to put a listing together. Send it to the same email address below.

Thanks for your help — and stay warm.
