Former Wichita banker charged with embezzling $346,000

A former assistant branch manager was charged Wednesday with embezzling $346,000 from the Wichita bank where she worked.

Lisa Marie Evans, 43, is charged with one count of embezzlement by a bank employee, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office said. The indictment alleges that the crime occurred from 2011 to April 2013 while she worked for Southwest National Bank, 454 S. Tracy.

If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $1 million.

In other federal indictments handed down Wednesday:

• Mark A. Blea, 31, of Wichita, is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm or ammunition after a felony conviction, three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a user of controlled substances, one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana, and one count of possession of a stolen firearm.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred in October 2013 in Sedgwick County.

• Edward Mark Murray, 49, of Wichita, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction and one count of possession of cocaine. The crimes are alleged to have occurred in January 2011 and April 2013.

• Carrie Anne Neel, 36, and Karen A. Parks, 50, both of Newton, are charged with one count of maintaining a residence at 801 E. Fourth in Newton for the purpose of distributing meth.

In addition, Neel is charged with four counts of distributing meth and Parks is charged with one count of distributing meth.

• Luis Arturo Verdugo, 24, of Wichita, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal alien and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm with the serial number removed. The crimes are alleged to have occurred Oct. 29 in Sedgwick County.

• Michael R. Horn, 42, of Wichita, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. The crime is alleged to have occurred Sept. 16 in Sedgwick County.

• Dwan Todd Earl, 51, of Wichita, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm or ammunition after a felony conviction and three counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The crimes are alleged to have occurred in July and October 2013 in Sedgwick County.

• Mark W. Rickett, 52, of Wichita, is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute meth. The crime is alleged to have occurred Sept. 6 in Sedgwick County.
