Wichita police released more details about a man’s death on Monday when he pulled over on Kellogg and jumped off the flyover.

The 44-year-old man was driving west on Kellogg with his 33-year-old wife when he began talking about wanting to commit suicide and then pulled to the side of the freeway, Capt. Brent Allred said.

“They had been in the U.S. for a short period of time,” Allred said. “They were on their way to the airport to go back to Korea.”

The man’s wife said he got out of the car, walked 30 to 40 feet to the edge of the bridge and jumped over the railing, falling more than 40 feet to the bike path on the west side of the Arkansas River next to McLean Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
