Wells Fargo said Tuesday it has named an executive to oversee a newly created region that includes Kansas.

The banking giant said Don Pearson will be the lead president for the Great Plains Region, encompassing 219 retail branches in North and South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and southwestern Illinois.

Pearson, most recently region president for the bank’s Oregon and southwest Washington area, will be based in Des Moines.

A Wells Fargo spokeswoman said Kirk Kellner remains in his role as president of the bank for Kansas and Nebraska. Kellner will report to Pearson.

Pearson has been with Wells Fargo since 2002.
