A 42-year-old man riding a bicycle across the intersection of 13th and Mosley on Friday was hit by a car after he reportedly ran a red traffic light, Wichita police say.
Sgt. Jason Stephens said the bicyclist was southbound on Mosley and the car, a four-door, was headed west on 13th when the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. A witness told police the bicyclist did not yield to the light, Stephens said; he was riding on the street at the time.
The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said. He was reportedly unconscious and suffered injuries to his head and left side.
The driver of the car – a man – and his three passengers were not hurt and were being interviewed by police Friday evening, Stephens said. He added that it was too early in the investigation to determine who was at fault.
