Cody Patton will step down as executive director for Positive Directions, a nonprofit AIDS service organization in Wichita.

Patton, who started the Positive Directions, said Monday he will take a job in customer service and sales for Epic Sports in Wichita. His last day at Positive Directions is Thursday. No successor has been named.

“I’ve done this for 22 years and I just got to a point where I decided I was tired of being stressed all the time,” Patton said.

Patton said he also was frustrated by changes at the federal and state levels that have made it harder on non-profits, especially small ones and those providing HIV services.

Positive Directions is stable and has a good staff, making his departure possible, he said.

Positive Directions is the beneficiary of the annual ArtAID fall fund-raising event.
