A reported burglary late Thursday night ended when the suspect ended a brief attempt to evade law enforcement officers by crashing into the house he had just broken into, authorities said.

The resident of the house at 2062 S. Seneca — near Pawnee — called 911 at 11:30 p.m. Thursday to report someone had broken in, a Sedgwick County dispatcher said. Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies responding to the location spotted the suspect, who tried to escape in his truck but ultimately drove around the block and crashed into the house he had just burglarized.

Records show the 32-year-old man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of several crimes, including aggravated assault, driving under the influence and attempting to elude.
