Some of the U.S. exports important to the Wichita area are up through August, the latest month for which figures are available.
Civilian aircraft exports were 23.6 percent above the first eight months of last year, an increase of $6.8 billion. The total civilian aircraft exported through August was $35.8 billion.
Industrial machinery was up 2.2 percent, while farm machinery was down 11.4 percent and excavating equipment was down 18.3 percent.
Exports of wheat were up 28.2 percent to $7.3 billion through August, although corn and soybean exports were both down about 42 percent.
Exports of meat and poultry were up 2.7 percent, to $12.3 billion.
The value of the U.S. dollar has fallen 5 percent against the Euro since April, which tends to help exporting by lowering prices for foreign buyers.
