Thunder picks up shootout win on road

Jake Hendrickson scored in the seventh round of a shootout to lift the Wichita Thunder to a 4-3 win over the Allen Americans on Sunday in Allen, Texas, for the Thunder’s first win of the season.

At one point in the game, the two teams had a combined 10 players in the penalty box at once. It was the first road game of the season for Wichita.

Allen took a 2-0 lead in the second period on goals from Ross Rouleau and Alex Lavoie. Wichita answered in the third period on a goal from Tyler Hostetter just 1:48 into the period to make the score 2-1. Less than two minutes later, the Thunder converted ona p ower play with a goal from Matt Summers.

Mike Wilson put Wichita ahead 3-2 at the 12:23 mark, but Allen tied the score on a goal fro Tyler Ludwig. The Thunder went just 1 for 10 on the power play. Wichita returns to action on Friday and Saturday in Denver.
