By voting “no” to ending the shutdown, Kevin Yoder, Tim Huelskamp, Mike Pompeo and Pat Roberts did exactly what they were supposed to do. They honored and obeyed the will of the people. We know that is a concept that many in this state and country are incapable of comprehending.
The most descriptive word for the Kansas congressional delegation is “panderers,” as they vote not for the voters of Kansas but for their corporate and special-interest contributors.

Why is Jim Ward the only area legislator mentioned as fighting to keep state offices in the Finney building downtown? All local legislators should be on the bandwagon to keep the offices there. Please tell me it’s not partisan politics that is keeping Republicans out of the action.
One can truly judge the character of Wichitans when they refuse to protect the lives of our hardworking highway workers by slowing down in the construction zone on I-235. In our self-centered city, 45 seconds of not driving slower is more important than a life.
The reason we have more poor people who are fat is because it takes more effort to plan and cook a healthy meal than it does to stop and pick up fast food.
Quit making excuses for those who are poor and fat. Yeah, starch is cheaper; yeah, top-quality food is expensive. There’s a middle ground, and lots of great sources of low-cost, high-quality protein. Truth is, they eat truckloads of salty, sugary, fatty garbage.
