Federal prosecutors have charged two men in an armed robbery and shooting at a Topeka gas station in July.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Thursday an indictment filed in federal court alleges that Corey Eugene Johnson, 39, and Shawn Michael Sneed, 20, robbed the Valero at 1161 S.W. Gage Blvd. on July 28 and fired a gun inside. A 52-year-old Topeka man, Salim Salti, was shot during the caper, Grissom said. Each man is charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of discharging a firearm.

If convicted, the accused face up to 20 years in federal prison on the robbery charges and up to a 10-year term for the firearms charges, Grissom said.

Johnson and Sneed are Topeka residents, he said.
