MCPHERSON — A Texas man was in critical condition in a Wichita hospital after being discovered unresponsive in a motel room in McPherson on Friday morning.
According to Michael Terry, assistant chief of police, a 51-year-old male from Fritch, Texas, was found unresponsive and bleeding profusely from the head in a motel room.
Meanwhile officers saw another man running into a second room at the motel. The man, who is 26 and from Fort Worth, was armed with a knife. An officer used a Taser on him and he was taken into custody.
Both the victim and the suspect were taken to McPherson Hospital. The suspect was treated and released into police custody and booked into the McPherson County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, domestic violence, and aggravated assault of a law officer, burglary and criminal damage.
The victim was transferred to Wesley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The two men are related, police say. The suspect was arrested Thursday on two counts of battery of the same victim and bonded out on those charges prior to Friday’s incident.
