Police were searching Wednesday afternoon for a suspect in the robbery of an Intrust Bank branch inside the Dillons at 31st and South Seneca.

Wichita Police Detective John Ryan said a man passed a note demanding money to tellers at the bank branch shortly before 1 p.m., received payment and then fled the store.

He was last seen pulling out of one of the parking lot’s south entrances in a small red or maroon compact vehicle, Ryan said. But it’s unknown where he drove afterward.

No weapon was shown during the robbery, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as white man in his 30s or 40s, 5-foot-8 and thin with a thin beard and a goatee. He was wearing a dark-colored coat or jacket and a green hat with a New Orleans Saints logo and sunglasses perched on the brim, authorities said.

Ryan said it appears the man was alone. He would not say how much money was taken but said it was “a decent amount.”

“We’re hopeful that we can get him fairly soon,” he said.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact Ryan at 316-268-4350 or jtryan@wichita.gov.
