A group of teens attacked two 14-year-old boys walking to a friend’s house in the 3100 block of North Ridgeport on Friday afternoon and stole about $40 cash from one of their victims, police say.

At least one of the assailants – ages 18, 18 and 15 – was armed with a handgun when the group pulled alongside the boys around 1:20 p.m. in a white SUV, Wichita police Sgt. Bruce Watts said.

One of the victims managed to run away, but the other was punched in the face and tackled to the ground, Watts said. The older teens demanded and stole money from the boy who was beaten then reportedly fled in the vehicle.

Watts said the boy received minor injuries. The suspects’ whereabouts are unknown. The site of the attack is between Ridge and Hoover, north of 29th Street North.
