A 14-year-old Valley Center student was arrested Friday morning after allegedly threatening to harm people at the high school, authorities said.

Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies were sent to Valley Center High School shortly before 10:30 a.m. to investigate the report of a threat being made, Capt. Greg Pollock said in a prepared statement. Several dozen witnesses to the threat were interviewed and the teen was booked into jail.

“The sheriff’s office is working with school officials to ensure students remain safe,” Pollock said. “We encourage anyone who discovers threatening information to report it to law enforcement so that it can be fully investigated.”
