Authorities are still searching for the man suspected of killing two people and seriously wounding a third in Greenwood County earlier this week.

The manhunt for Kevin Robert Welsh, 35, continued a day after his gold Ford Explorer was found in eastern Greenwood County, authorities said. Welsh is suspected in the shooting deaths of a 54-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman in the 1500 block of 130th Street, southeast of Eureka, on Wednesday night.

A 26-year-old woman was shot multiple times and later crashed a vehicle. She was flown by medical helicopter to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where she remains hospitalized.

Welsh is considered armed and dangerous.

Amid concerns “a person of interest (in the case) may be in Park City,” Chisholm Trail Elementary, 6015 Independence, locked its front door Thursday and held recess indoors, Wichita public schools spokeswoman Susan Arensman said via e-mail on Thursday. School security officers and Park City police also held guard outside of the school throughout the day, she said.

Chisholm Trail was not on lockdown on Friday, she said.
