Woman attacked and robbed on her front porch

Police are investigating whether an assault and robbery in southeast Wichita may be connected to another crime earlier in the week.

A 39-year-old woman told police she was on her porch walking toward the front door at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of South Silverdale Court when an unknown man came up from behind, grabbed her around her neck and choked her to unconsciousness, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

When she awakened, she discovered money missing from her wallet. She also had neck and head pain and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred near Lincoln and Edgemoor. That’s not far from where another woman may have been attacked and robbed the day before, Nolte said.

A woman reported being assaulted and robbed of cash in the 1600 block of Woodlawn on Tuesday. The police report stated it was on North Woodlawn, but investigators are double-checking to see whether it was actually South Woodlawn, Nolte said.

“We’re looking at these to see if they’re related,” he said.
