A person was hurt in eastern Sedgwick County when their motorcycle collided with a deer during the morning commute Friday, authorities said.

The collision occurred at about 6:50 a.m. at Kellogg and 143rd East, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. The rider, whose gender was not released, was taken to Wesley Medical Center with potentially serious injuries.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area due to traffic congestion as investigators work the crash scene.
