Executive director, Hartman Arena
Rush sounds like a character from the A-Team as he describes the satisfaction that comes from booking a good show:
I love it when a good plan comes together.
Rush, 42, has been in charge of booking shows at Hartman Arena since mid-August. Although his career has taken him from coast to coast and into Mexico, he says he doesn't mind being back in his native Midwest.
When you talk about exotic places, theres a good side and a bad side.
Rush grew up in Michigan, went to Central Michigan University and then St. Thomas University in Miami to earn an MBA. He interned with the Detroit Pistons, worked in marketing for the University of Miami, then served as sports information director for Miami-Dade Community College, working part time for the Miami Heat and Miami Dolphins at the same time.
Hes worked for convention centers and theaters in Palm Springs, Calif., El Paso, Texas, and Acapulco, Mexico, and at a world trade center in Mexico City. He came here from Sioux City, Iowa, where he had run the convention and visitors bureau, convention center and other facilities.
Rush and his wife, Carmen, have two children: Liam, 13, and Isabella, 11. Outside work he enjoys spending time with family, cycling, cooking and traveling.
We have family all over the world, so most of our vacations are visiting them, he said.
