A 17-year-old boy has been hospitalized after being stabbed in southwest Wichita on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The boy was stabbed just after 7 a.m. at a trailer park in the 1100 block of South Meridian, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. That’s south of Kellogg and just east of K-42.

The boy was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in potentially critical condition with a stab wound to the neck, Schroeder said. An argument between the 17-year-old and a 19-year-old man escalated until the teenager was stabbed, he said.

The 19-year-old left the scene before police arrived, Schroeder said. Police have his identity and are looking for him.
