A man remains in critical condition after being shot in his home early Saturday morning, police said.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, Capt. Brent Allred said. The shooting culminated a dispute over “a small amount of money,” he said.

The two suspects, ages 19 and 22, came to the man’s house in the 300 block of North Lorraine shortly before 5:30 a.m. Saturday. That’s south of Central and just west of Hillside in Wichita.

When the victim answered his door, Allred said, a brief exchange occurred before he was shot once in the upper chest. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.

“It was a very short time period from when the door opened to when he was shot,” Allred said.

Police aren’t sure why the money was owed, he added.

The 22-year-old suspect was arrested in the 1000 block of East MacArthur, while the 19-year-old suspect was arrested in the 3600 block of West 44th Street South, records show.
